A few random thoughts:
- Watching these two men talk about technology reveals much about their respective audiences.
- Pogue is chatty and talks with an almost imperceptible condescension (as though he’s talking to a child, not somebody he thinks is stupid).
- Gruber isn’t terribly interested in blowing his own horn.
This is an interesting discussion and worth your 16 minutes. You can tell that Mr. Rose falls squarely into Pogue’s wheelhouse: not really a technology enthusiast (though, cursorily familiar with the state of the industry, probably because of the kind of work he does) and, in many respects, representing the everyman. I think Gruber spends most of his time thinking about the guts of technology, Apple, mobile computing. His nerdiness is obvious, Pogue’s is not.
